Gregory Beauregard
Upon receiving the notice of your High School graduation my thoughts returned to the only time that we had met and what a favorable impression you had made upon me. You may not remember, but I do. In your innocence you accepted me completely, offered me some exotic drinks you had mixed from your chemistry set (which I drank), took me upstairs to your game room and shared your knowledge of a Mario Brothers game. I recollect how you made one bird lay explosive eggs and showed me it's significance. It was all very charming.
And now, you are graduating. I am impelled to offer you some information to you that you may not know, something that I may be uniquely qualified as your great uncle to do. It is important that you know who you are, where you came from in recent history. You are a direct descendant of Andre Beauregard who, as a French soldier, came to North America to protect French settlements and fight against the Indians. He came here in 1590 and did such a good service for the settlers he was rewarded with three islands in the St. Lawrence River. The Beauregard's have always been Catholics and the ones I have known: from your great, great grandfather, Leon; to your great grandfather, Azarias; to your grandfather, John; all have been practicing Catholics. All have been hard workers and worked all their lives, that is, found something physical to do even in old age. They were also a credit to their communities.
In any endeavor you have plan for longevity because you have enduring genes. Leon and Azarias died in their nineties and I am sure John will exceed both of them. An innate intelligence with a sense of humor come with these genes and will give spice to your life. From a spiritual side I want to remind you that you are here to work out your salvation. Be aware that just as the physical side needs nourishment the spiritual side needs care and attention. Listen to the spirit inside of you, pray always to do the right thing.

Good advice to all HS grads.
I've been in that game room where Gregory gave me a whoping on WII bowling.
In listing Gregory's Catholic ancestors you neglected to mention the female ancestor families: Langevin, Delpe and Charron.
By John Beauregard, at 2:08 PM
You are correct, I did neglect the females. At the time, I was concentrating on longevity and the Delpe's as a group did not live too long. Many died of diabetes and to my mind did not understand the relationship between carbs. and sugar. According to Mama, she made tons of sasafrass pancakes with black strap molasses for them. Most died young.
The Langevin's are not too clear as to as longevity. Certainly Memame (Louisa) lived long and her brother Alfred did too. But any others in that family are a blurr to me.

Alfred Langevin. The guy with the eye?
By Tim B., at 6:18 AM
Alfred Langevin had two eyes, however, he had an enlarged tear duct that allowed air to pass from the corner of his eye to his nose. He was known in the circus as "Alfred The Great" for being able to smoke with his eye.

Greg said he wrote you a short letter back. I told him he should post it here but he declined, he added though that he would not mind if you posted it. I have not seen it so I don't know what he wrote.
He very much enjoyed/appreciated your letter as did I since much of it I did not know.
By David, at 6:05 AM
David,
Yes, I did get a letter back from Gregory and I would post it here if I still had it. However, in my desire for a clean desk, it was in the handfull of items that I moved from the desk into the trash. My problem is that I did not remember to put it into my file of things I want to save.
Here is what I remember: He thanked me for the nice letter and assured me that he was aware of the need to live a good life. He gave me a rundown of what he is going to study; dual degrees in physics and science. Also, he is an honors student and did well in high school. All that he wrote me was pleasing to my ears. I was favorably impressed when I first met him and that impression has now been enhanced.
Pat read his note and commented: "Certainly is way better than some others that we know, he seems to be on the right track." She also said about his picture which we received with his notice: "What a wonderful looking boy." I just now glanced at his two pictures (the notice did make it into my save file) and he has a lot of hair with what looks like red hghlights....a Mother's dream.
