A Long Journey

We have all heard that a long journey starts with one step. Yesterday, a first step was taken in achieving GOOOH's goal of replacing all 535 legislators in our Congress. There now remain 534 to take the fast ride out on a rail. The Tea Party people have thrown down the gauntlet and told the legislators: We are coming for you. In Massachusetts yesterday, it did not matter how people were registered; Democrat, Republican or Independent, they rose up and did what had to be done to regain our Country and ensure liberty for citizens. Some say that all legislative seats are now in play, to me, that appears to be wishful thinking. Nevertheless, it is time to look forward to who will be number 534.

  • I believe the seat was open because Ted Kennedy died. He was not voted out of office. A new senator would be sitting in that seat regardless of which candidate one.

Do is the plan to kill off all of the current sitting senators?

  • No, those seats will become open as the election cycle continues. His death just caused this one to come around earlier.

  • 435 in the House and 100 in the Senate equals 535. Did Fox forget to tell you that you hate Obama too. Big corporations, those silly rascals...

  • Last time I checked the President is not a legislator.
Have you ever noticed when things don't go their way liberals bring out the "hate" word. They seem to reflect on others their own emotions.
Gretchen's point is valid and well taken. Do to gerrymandering it is difficult but not impossible to unseat a sitting incumbent.
Democrats should ask themselves whether or not Virgina, New Jersey and now Massachutts represents a sea change similar to 2004 and 2008.

  • I meant to say 2006 and 2008.

  • Does this KathrynVH ever complete a full sentence? What does "Big corporations, those silly rascals..." mean?

I like the idea of GOOOH but contrary to the comment by KathrynVH I have never hear anything about it on Fox.

  • Gretchen,

I got a laugh at your construct that all the legislators would die, (or the implied, killed.)

    Kathy,

Your blogs are always so full of detail, yet, this response requires a bit of explaning.

    John,

Gerrymandering is an obstacle for GOOOH proponents, those districts are very safe. Eventually, we may wind up with black committee chairmen for every congressional committee.

  • I was mad at the Supreme Court's ruling on corporate campaign contributions, hence the "big corporation" crack. Sorry. I had never heard of GOOOH. I thought the Tea Party people got their start on Fox news. Am I wrong?

"Get out of our house" reminds me of Nixon's approach to undermine the Supreme Court by nominating Burger as chief justice. Long story with all those liberal blah, blah, blahs--never mind.

P.S. I'm glad Uncle John doesn't hate Obama, but I'm sad that you are not color blind yet. Maybe the black committee chairs will be really, really conservative--you'd like that, right?

  • Kathy,

I am not sure how the Tea Parties got started but Fox News was the only news group that reported on them, all others stayed carefullly away. At any rate, Tea Parties are about SPENDING and not about Dems. or Repubs. Also, they are for smaller government.

It is disappointing that you think I hate Obama and suggest that it is because he is black. He is a Marxist and wants to turn this Country away from what has made it great. I want smaller government.

Your Nixon and Burger comment is beyond me, must be tied in with how lawyers think.

I understand Kathy's remark about not being color blind. I too thought your remark:
"Eventually, we may wind up with black committee chairmen for every congressional committee."
sounded racist and out of character. What was your point?

By Blogger John Beauregard, at 5:02 PM

  • John,

My point was that Blacks have protected seats due to gerrymandering. Blacks have been voting as a block and it will be extremely difficult to find people that can defeat them. Corrine Brown's district is across the street from where I live and there is nobody in sight that can run against her.
