Global Warming

Now that the "science" of global warming has been shown for the fraud it is, how long will it take for "green house gas" advocates to face the same scrutiny. If it happens soon enough there may still be time to save our automotive industry. Imagine if emission standards were dropped because they are irrelevant, and other government restrictions were set aside, thus freeing the automotive companies to design and build the cars that would sell, what that would do for our economy. Just the simple engine designs resulting from no requirement to adjust for ethanol in the gasoline would be a great savings. Gasoline would be cheaper because of the now required gasoline blends for different seasons would go away. Can't happen too soon.

  • It's going to take a lot more convincing to change my mind about what you call the "fraud" of global warming and green house gases. Maybe that's just the stubborn scientist in me, but personally I see those theories as the best explanation for what's going on. And also, even if they are proved to be false (which I highly doubt), I will still do my best to get this world healthier than it was when I got here...

  • Good luck with your optimism. You sound like the annointed one, didn't know you were a scientist

  • Sean,

Making the world healthier is a laudable goal. Keep striving for it.

  • The melt down of the global warming crowd is interesting to observe. I think that it can be summed up by saying that instead of being scientists many of them have proven to be activists or at least more advocacy focused than fact and science focused. When else have scientists tried to alter data, conceal data, and silence critics? It seems strange b/c in the past science has been made more acurate and held to higher standards by the oposition presented by critics. Why now all the urge to cover up and present false data?

  • Tracy,

A person is a "scientist" when he proposes a hypothesis, designs methods to obtain data to prove or disprove, collects the data, evaluates the data, publishes, and then waits for peers to review and duplicate his data.

You hit it on the head when you state, data has been altered, eliminated, or concealed. Doing so means peers cannot duplicate and get the same results. This is not science, it is fraud.

As for Sean's, "the best explanation for what's going on," it is true science that explains what is going on and when the data does not support your theory it means the theory is not correct.

  • I disagree with relaxing auto emission standards to save our automotive industry. Here in Southern California we witnessed first hand the smog in the early 60s compared to now. Even though the number of cars on the roads have more than doubled the number of "smog alert" days are now close to zero compared to about 35 in the early 60s. People are healthier and our eyes do not burn.

I believe the earth is cooling not warming even though there are inevitable heating and cooling cycles caused by solar activity with very little (if any) effect from human activity. Notwithstanding the absence of global warming I feel strongly we need to conserve natural resources and minimize pollution.

  • Uncle John, I could not agree with you more. The so-called "global warming" may be real or it may not (BTW the name "warming" is a mis-nomer, and instead the effect should be called "climate change"). The important point here is pollution. While So. California might be improving, areas like here in the South are getting worse. The population is increasing, and with limited public transportation, that means thousands or millions more cars on the road and billions of tons of pollution in the air. Cases of asthma are astronomical in our area, which has been linked to pollution. Like I said before, I feel good about helping get our Earth healthier. I'm doing my part: my car gets great mileage (up to 34 mpg highway) and I do most of my driving within a 10 mile radius. Of course we could all do better...
