Confused

President Obama says that there are no "earmarks" in his budget proposal. Some say that there are 9,000 earmarks in the budget proposal. President Obama, when talking to business leaders, told them that only business could get us out of this recession. What government had to do was to get out of the way and create a climate for business to do it's work. During the "State Of The Union" speech he said only government could get us out of this recession. President Obama said that 95% of the American People would get a tax decrease. 95% of the people do not pay taxes, many pay no taxes at all. How do those that pay no taxes get a tax decrease? President Obama said he was for Charter Schools, yet, he supported the removal of funds for Charter Schools in Washington DC. President Obama said that most of the new jobs created would be in the private sector, yet he calls for great expansion of education, public works, health care and energy. Most of these are government jobs. President Obama said he wanted to bring our troops home, then he sends 17,000 additional troops to Afghanistan. President Obama said he would have no lobbyists in his administration, then he nominates three lobbyists into the administrating. Lastly, President Obama said that, unlike the bush Administration, he would always be straight with the American People and would always tell them the truth. Hmmm?

St. Valentine's Day

What is love? Love is patient, love is kind, love is not jealous, love is not pompous, love is not inflated, love is not rude, love does not seek it's own interests, love is not quick tempered, love does not brood over injury, love does not rejoice over wrongdoing, love rejoices with the truth, love bears all things, love believes all things, love hopes all things, love endures all things. Love never fails.

Freedom

A columnist, Star Parker, wrote a book entitled: "Uncle Sam's Plantation." In it, she made clear that many people that were looking out for themselves before the "War On Poverty" came along, decided to live on Uncle Sam's plantation where they would give away some of their freedom in return for food, housing and other items. Of course, once on the plantation, it is almost impossible to get off of it. She now has written about the bailouts for corporations and says the corporations are jumping onto Uncle Sam's plantation. Once on the plantation, corporations must give up some of their freedoms, like setting executive pay levels. For sure there are other freedoms that will be lost. The effects will be the same for corporations as it is for the individuals who live on Uncle Sam's plantation.
